摘要 Abstract
Collaborations between European and Chinese research groups has a long tradition and within the Insight-HXMT and eXTP programs have led to outstanding progress in high-energy astrophysics.
Insight-HXMT has delivered notable results in the X-rays, including detailed studies of accretion processes in X-ray binaries, pulsar emission behavior, and magnetar activity, demonstrating its enormous value for timing and spectral investigations. The mission continues to provide a growing archive that supports ongoing research and multi-mission comparative studies.
A large Sino-European collaboration has strengthened the international cooperation in higher education energy astrophysics and broadened the scientific foundation in preparation for eXTP. The forthcoming eXTP mission is expected to have a groundbreaking impact in our understanding of the extreme universe through its combined timing, spectroscopy, and polarimetry capabilities, enabling precise studies of dense matter, strong-field gravity, and extreme magnetic environments. European scientists are actively engaged in studies related to eXTP, providing some hardware elements, and contributing significantly to the definition of the scientific case, to simulations and background estimation, to the preparation of the data analysis framework, and, above all, to academic exchanges that are essential for training the next generation of Chinese and European astrophysicists.

Prof. Andrea SANTANGELO is Professor of High Energy Astrophysics and Director of the High Energy Section at the University of Tübingen’s Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics. He serves as Spokesperson of the Kepler Center for Astro and Particle Physics. He studied Physics at the University of Palermo and specialized in Astrophysics at Italy’s National Research Council and Columbia University. A leading figure in high energy astrophysics, his research spans X-rays to ultra-high-energy cosmic rays. He has played and still plays key roles in major missions like BeppoSAX, INTEGRAL, XMM-Newton, eROSITA, ATHENA, eXTP, and THESEUS, and leads research for TeV observatories (HESS, CTA). Beside, experimental activities, his work focuses on endpoints of stellar evolution, dark matter, and TeV emitters, with ~800 refereed publications. Honors include the Bruno Rossi Prize (2010) and the EU Descartes Prize (2007) with the HESS Collaboration, a RIKEN Grant (2009) for visiting distinguished scientist, and two Chinese Academy of Sciences President’s International Fellowships (2016, 2021). He has been appointed as Fudan University Scholar for 2025. A dedicated mentor, Prof. Santangelo takes particular pride in having supervised approximately 150 research theses (Bachelor, Master and PhD levels), guiding different generations of students through their academic development.
